Plage de la Savonnière

It was hot and we wanted to have a relaxed Sunday by the lake with a picnic. What better place to go than Plage de la Savonnière in Canton Geneva.

Plage de la Savonnière is a wonderful, family friendly beach in Collonge-Bellerive. You can take the E bus from Rive to the stop ‘Collonge-Bellerive, Savonnière’ and walk for 15 minutes to the beach, or, as we did, you can drive directly to the beach. There are 2 big free car parks next to the beach, which is really handy.

At the weekends in the summer, there is an entrance fee of 1 SFr per child and 4 SFr per adult, but in the weekdays it is free. There is a restaurant just before the entrance called Hôtel restaurant Le Manoir, where you can stop for a drink or some food.

The beach itself is a bit like a large, pleasant park, with plenty of shade for little ones. The whole beach felt very family and baby friendly. There was lots of space and plenty of families having picnics, playing games and swimming.

There are public toilets available and also a bar where you can buy cold drinks, ice creams and freshly made pizzas. There is also an option to go paddle boarding from here; you can hire all of the equipment.

The lake is very shallow and great for babies and children. It is a pebble beach, so you may want to pack water shoes for your little ones. Jack loved swimming in the water here and he enjoyed sitting on the beach and playing with the pebbles.
