Spiez is a beautiful town on the shore of Lake Thun. When you arrive at the station you can see the view of the town and the lake beneath you.

We visited in February, but we would love to come back again in the summer to go to the Freibad Spiez (swimming pool).

We headed straight down to the lake shore. Our son enjoyed feeding the ducks and playing in the play area – Spielplatz Seebucht’ by the dock area.
After researching walks in the area we found a gentle, and importantly pushchair friendly walk from Spiez to Faulensee along a lakeside path. The path was clearly marked with yellow sign posts from the town.
We all enjoyed this walk – our son walked parts of it himself, and he especially enjoyed stopping at the small beaches to skim stones. The views were impressive across the lake and it felt very peaceful. Again, we would love to revisit in the summer and try out some of these swimming spots along the lake.

There are toilets at either end of the walk and there is also a small fish museum – ‘Fischereistützpunkt Faulensee’ towards Faulensee. Once we reached Faulensee we came across another lakeside play area – perfect for our 1 year old boy – Spielplatz Piratenbucht.
You can turn this walk into a circular walk or you can take the post bus back to Spiez station. It is a pleasant walk for all ages and abilities and we would recommend it!
